Are you starting to feel the "summer blahs" when everything seems to slow down and not much is happening? The Westlake Garden Club does not slow down in summer. June is our annual Picnic/Plant Exchange. Members bring salads, desserts, etc. to share - and excess plants from their gardens. It is always a fun time with good food and great camaraderie. This will be the third year for our Garden Walks in July. This is a members only event but members may bring guests. We generally have 4-5 gardens to tour starting around 5 p.m. and ending with a wine and cheese reception at the last garden. This has become a very popular event and we hope to continue it in the future. In August, we will tour the new American Greetings facility at Crocker Park which includes an art gallery, followed by lunch at Rosewood Tavern. That closes out the summer, but September is a big month for the club. We will put together raffle baskets at the general meeting and the biennial Fundraiser Luncheon will be on September 26, 2018. If you have been thinking about joining a club or organization, please take a closer look at the Westlake Garden Club. We have been around for 55 years and fully support educational, community and civic projects. We meet the third Wednesday of each month, March through December, at Westlake Porter Public Library at 11:15 a.m. Please join us for a meeting or contact membership chairman Kathy Bruening at [email protected] [1] for more information.
